Yeah youtube’s far right bias showing very strong with what they choose to censor. The only comment I have ever gotten a threatening message from was the one where I called out an elon fanboy for ‘hate speech’ because apparently “billionaire” is a protected category. They also seem to blanket ban anything critical of pedophilia which is just the nice little cherry on top. Meanwhile shorts are just full of nazi propaganda. Yep.
BTW if you get shadowbanned and view the comment in incognito it will still show your comments even though they’re deleted, because as a recent lawsuit proves, incognito mode in chrome is little more than the illusion of being logged off.
I didn’t realize how much worse YouTube has gotten since I last used it in 2019. Still, through Invidious I’ve been noticing that the comments on popular videos have gotten weird, especially in recent years. Also it seems like YouTube is deleting any comment that is even remotely negative. Because all I ever see anymore are generic positive praise comments. Meanwhile there are content farms out there that put out videos for “Kids” on a rapid pace that contain borderline sexual content. I wish more people would start using PeerTube because I have a feeling that YouTube won’t be getting any better in the future.

Which shouldn’t be a surprise since Chrome itself is just another one of Google’s spyware products.
PeerTube even has nice features such as being able to share a clip with a start and end time and send it as a url. This is super handy when one wants to share a specific segment of a video without people feeling overwhelmed if the video is long. Open source once again actually making features and not anti-features.
I hope to run a personal PeerTube instance someday in the near future.
Youtube having a right wing bias is hysterical considering how hard they try to look like a progressive website. Whatever robot they have running the company is a MAGA voter I guess lol
The disconnect comes from the fact that being a fascist and being a progressive are mutually exclusive. A lot of people think that as long as you’re a progressive you can’t possibly be a nazi, not realizing that’s literally what the nazis were all about. It’s why eugenicists always say that ethics “get in the way of progress” and why decimating cultures is always framed as “civilizing” them.
Yeah, YT is down and on its way out. Because of course it is. They could have fixed comments years ago, but instead they made it worse with secretive shadow bans.
The easiest way to tell is to post the comment and then try to edit it. You’ll get an error if it’s already banned.

I think they might have gone a bit easier on the censorship, I realized I’d get shadowbanned just by saying “Palestine”, which seems they don’t do anymore. But words like “genocide”, “intifada” and “from the River to the Sea” will still get nuked.

I’ve been having this a lot on YT. Probably because I mostly write comments like “free Palestine” under German government-funded media when they do their genocide denial.
I’m not on YouTube, but 've seen the same happening with one of my reviews on Google Maps. I rarely use it - maybe that’s why if I do leave a review, Google keeps bugging me with notification about how much my neighbours life became because of my review.
When I left a comment about a club that is a meeting point for the local neo-nazi-scene because it is a meeting point for the local neo-nazi-scene, I’ve never received any of these Google notifications.
Since I don’t accept any cookies from Google on my desktop I watched out for my review - and they obviously simply hide it from anyone else but me.Yeah YouTube is a veritable minefield at this point. You never know what comments will get through and what weren’t. It’s kinda like how Twitter nazis can just openly say the F slur or the N word and it just stays up indefinitely but if you say “fuck” or “shit” you get shadowbanned.
And actual edgy jokes get censored like when I got suspended over a joke mocking a homophobe because it has the f slur.
