Eh, live and learn, she kept slowly climbing towards the light. Was 2100ppfd at the worst cola. Adjusted power down to 1500ppfd at that height, but humidity may climb with the lack of heat now.
So, what’s a cola ?
The central flower cluster that forms along the upper portion of the main stems and large branches in a mature female cannabis plant.
Thank you!
Looks like some killer bud though damn
The last time I had some colas like this I lose some to bud rot. Potentially being 3 more weeks is making me hella nervous haha.
Do you run a dehumidifier? Humidity is the bud-killer after all.
House sits around 30-40rh, I have the dehumidifer in the mech room where the tents vent too. It’s stupidly dry where we are normally, so humidity usually isn’t an issue.
I should have had an upper canopy fan sooner, totally my fault, but just makes me nervous.
Honestly you’ll probably be fine, I’d probably keep an eye on the chonkier buds though. If you have three more weeks your buds should still be… maybe not loose and airy considering the quality of what you produce, but certainly not as dense as it’s going to be. You’re probably right on the line between needing that fan and REALLY needing that fan
Been pulling them apart and checking, some lower ones and ones against the tent wall too, the good thing is the spots where the leafs touch don’t seem to trap or leave moisture from what I’ve checked.
Definitely lean more to the really needing with how dense I like my canopy, the bottom fan can only do so much.
The thing was, coming from soil, when training after flower they would only get like 6” tall, so wasn’t ever really an issue.
My second last soil harvest, but my last trained one. That was harvested apr 23 2023. I think the main difference is the aero over soil, but the light can’t be discounted either. But I think you would have seen my other accounts raggedy soil posts under the old lights and in soil, and the bud turned out alright, I think the issue was the light intensity and height limit with the light.
Get the temperature down some boss.
It would get up to no more than 26 while on max, but leaf temp may be higher.
The leaves are folding upwards like that due to high temps and/or too much light. They’re attempting to reduce the amount of light hitting them by reducing exposed surface area. Not ideal, but in general it looks like a good harvest. I’d try to reduce temps and light intensity and it should be golden.
Yeah you’re right, the light was too high, and even if the temp was fine the leaf surface temperature likely wasn’t.
Light intensity was dropped yesterday, so there’s no fixing the damage, just ride it out, plenty of other foliage to suck up the rays though.
I find it interesting the closer colas aren’t tacoing like the other ones are that are lower. But than they threw new pistils out and it didn’t.
Two plants, both Durban poison.
Looks good to me… New grower here. Have 2 harvest under my belt but still learning how to make better product.
What is light stress? How does heat affect "climbing " ?
Thanks fren!
Light stress is when you give the plant too much light, it can cause quite a few issues or represent different ways. It can bleach the plant, it can have it send out more pistils, or at the worse, cause it to herm. I’m pretty late in flower that some nanners shouldn’t be detrimental.
Heats not related to climbing sorry.
The plant just slowly kept getting taller and taller as the super cropped stems unbent and adjusted. So now that I’ve turned my light intensity down, my light won’t be putting as much heat off, so my temps will drop, which in turn will cause the RH to rise, and in flower you want to keep the RH a little lower.
It’s not a very large spot, so hard to get a good picture of it sorry.
I’m not familiar with growing, but I want to grow. What does it mean if the flower is discolored like that?
What colour specifically?
Cannabis is like other flowers, they can flower in many different colours, this one is giving me some nice red colours for example.
That being said, purple is from anthocyanins, it’s mainly natural, but colder temps bring them out more.
If you are talking about the leaves turning like orange/rust, could be from my nutrient mix being slightly off, light being too high (leaves curling more for that one).
I was referring to the bud, what does it mean when it’s white like that? Does it mean you killed the potency?
The white is just pistils, the one threw out a lot of new ones from light stress, but it’s also natural until the plant is finished. Trichomes also appear as white or “frost” in images too.
