In light of Mozilla’s recent policy changes, we no longer feel assured that Firefox aligns with our commitment to protect your privacy. This prompted us to revisit the choice of default web browser in Zorin OS 17.3.
Probably going to stop suggesting Zorin to new users. Can’t trust a distro that defaults crypto bro chromium.
Yeah, I can understand wanting to disinvest from Mozilla, even if I disagree. But moving to Brave seems insane. Probably a sponsored move.
Brave is trash.
Firefox policies are getting sketch so let’s switch our default to brave the chromium browser with a sketch history?
Just throw librewolf or something on it and call it a day.
Also specifying (old) and (new) like we have 0 reading comprehension is a bit insulting, but maybe I’m just being bitter.
Definitely not using or recommending Zorin OS after this. I don’t appreciate Brave’s integrated cryptocurrency bloatware or the fact that Brave was founded as a competitor to Firefox by a homophobe who was ousted from Mozilla for his anti-LGBT political contributions.
Isn’t Brave also a controversial choice? I thought something was sketchy about them. Librewolf would make a better choice.
Terrible news for touchpad users. The scrolling on Firefox is not perfect by default but it can be made 10/10 with 4 about:config fixes
You can still install Firefox, it will be just like windows where edge is only used once.
Well you fa vastly underestimate the power of defaults and first impressions
This is Linux, we’re already going past the default. But yes, most people stick with whatever is given to them and if brave is the default, then that’s a loss for Firefox.
