Maybe I was spoiled by things like The Witcher.

Maybe it’s because 3 was the first one I played, but 4 seemed much more shallow.

Worse mini games and you show up on an organisations doorstep and 10 mins later you’re running the place.

Given the downward trend from 3 -> 4 (and from 2 -> 3 from what I hear) this is a game that will really need to impress before I consider picking it up.

Frierien; Beyond Journeys End

It’s about the mage from the Party of Heroes. 80 years ago they defeated the Demon King and shattered his armies, restoring peace to most of the world.

Frierien is an elf who has lived for hundreds of years and the rest of the party are dying of old age.

The show follows her as she learns to open up to people, even though she knows those people will only live for a small fraction of her lifespan, and what it’s like to live in the world she helped save now that people are starting to forget she did.

It knocked Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood off the top spot on MyAnimeList after (something like) 13 years of dominance.

It’s excellent, though some find it a little slow in parts. (I think that’s fitting for a story about an immortal)

The cynic in me is thinking this was an intentional marketing ploy.

1. Price too high
2. Outlets, outraged by the price talk about the features of the phone in detail, questioning how can this hardware cost cost so much
3. Lower the price to your original (but secret) intent.
4. Outlets now talk about how much more reasonable that is, how nice of the company to listen!

You get 2 rounds of media attention for the price of one.

Granted, I haven’t put a major amount of thought into the nuance, but the idea of making it a sin for some people to legally go outside is absurd.

The approach of these laws makes it so the victims of mistreatment are the ones breaking the law.

It’s like making it illegal to be homeless or illegal to have been mugged. It’s fucking outlandish.

This makes the world more fair and equitable.
