Enabling the proxy has massively helped to reduce our storage usage. There is some pict-rs retention stuff you can enable too if you haven’t already.
But yes Lemmy is storage hungry :)
It is something isn’t it!
Having Gazby be able to write all the code and get everything set up so we could see what was causing the issues has been amazing, and if we get some naughty traffic again we can deal with it much faster!
Can’t wait to hit 1tb of memes!
Im 90% sure that drop is related to @gazby@lemmy.zip doing some vacuuming

Why is that?English3·16 days agoI do wonder if the latest Lemmy version has introduced a bug then - I’ll keep an eye out and see if anyone else mentions the same thing
Do you still see this behavior btw?

I thought maybe you had some instance blocks in place, but it doesnt look like you do?
Demigodrick@lemmy.zipMto Home@lemmy.zip•Lemmy.zip doesnt show my post and only a few comments but that doesnt happen on old.lemmy.zip. Why is that?English2·16 days agoPossibly - I can definitely see the full history in that community when I browse it via .zip (both with this account and the test account) - quite possibly something has pulled through via the import that has affected things 🤔

Otherwise can you share some links where you’re seeing this behaviour please?
Also if you can let me know which communities you’re still on pending for, that would help too.
Thanks
Hey, could you try a couple of things just to make sure its not a browser issue? If you could clear your site data for old.lemmy.zip and then log back in, do you have the same problem?
Demigodrick@lemmy.zipMto Home@lemmy.zip•Lemmy.zip proxied images not embedding properly in AlexandriteEnglish2·17 days agoHey! I’ve logged it here: https://github.com/sheodox/alexandrite/issues/123
Lemm.ee doesn’t use the proxy so we need the alexandrite devs help to figure this out. Just waiting for them to respond.
Demigodrick@lemmy.zipto Fediverse@lemmy.world•We have to solve the money problem!English4·22 days agoLemm.ee didn’t shut down because it was financially unsustainable though. It shut down because the admin team didn’t want to do it anymore.
Plenty of people have offered to take lemm.ee on and AFAIK nothing has progressed, but handled in a different way there could have been continuity and no need for users to transition away.
Given that the issue wasn’t one of finance and rather one of effort/will, how does charging for access change anything? The owner could decide they have had enough, walk away, and shut everything down anyway, no?

@Neon_Carnivore@lemmy.zipI will be in touch, well done 😁
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! 😊
❤️ two years already 😱
We’re at about 1000 now, looks like a lot we’re waiting for .ee to shutdown. I guess quite a few went to piefed too
