Are you sarcastically trying to claim that “people in cars die to speeding motorcycles every day” is keeping a law firm in business?

111 mph is ~150fps
It’s a freeway. Everyone is going the same direction. Speed differential is what matters, and it was only around 45mph. You drive 45mph past parked cars all the time and don’t blink an eye. All it takes is one parked driver to pull out and it’s all over for you, apparently.
It is exactly the problem.
You people making shit up is the problem. You’re literally sitting there imagining scenarios where you can feel threatened by a man sitting on a 400 - 500 pound machine, who is traveling at 45mph relative to you. You’re ignoring the actual situation being discussed and inventing scenarios in your head so that you can feel threatened and express your righteous indignation while clutching your pearls. It’s really weird.

The comment by Freethought is interesting:
… Forty-two percent of Canadian manufacturers have already moved, or plan to move, some or all of their production to the United States, according to a May 2026 KPMG Canada survey. The survey found that 29% have already shifted production south and another 13% plan to within the next two years. Something tells me Trump already knows this, and when this becomes public knowledge, he will falsely claim it was all because of him.
It’s the same thing he did with egg prices. A Bird Flu outbreak drove prices up. Trump did nothing. The outbreak died down, thanks to responsible farmers, and prices dropped. Trump now brags that his administration brought egg prices down.

He is so astonishingly stupid.
“They’ve been ripping us off for decades, and it’s going to stop.”
Just once, I want to hear him back up any of his insult-claims with evidence of any kind. If a reporter pushes back, they get, “you know, you really are a stupid person” in response. Never any explanation. Canada has been ripping us off. Venezuela ripped us off. Everyone ripped us off, apparently, but I have no idea how. Just once, Donny, for the history books.
I witnessed this in the 90s and 2000s. AFAIK, it started in rave culture. People would lace their fingers around glow sticks and wave them in front of a friend’s face. I was told that the effect is really cool if your rolling on MDMA. However, I also saw Mormon kids doing it stone sober, because they’re always imitating things they see without understanding the drug component (e.g. a Mormon kid at a local high school who wore a pacifier on a necklace – an MDMA raver accessory to give something to chew on – despite zero awareness of drugs).
Personally, I think these photos are a combination of raver culture seeping into the mainstream, along with a trend of “reversing subject and photographer”.

Oh, neat, so is it all of the kettles in Britain that caused the global temperature spike since industrialization?

Those are actually ridden by members of the public, you know.
Are there a lot of tandem bicycles out on the freeway, where this event occurred?
Even if you were correct (you’re not), you’re ignoring that the modern car or SUV is still going to be a total loss.
I am entirely correct and, again, where was the collision in the event being discussed?
You want to make absurd hypothetical claims (that car drivers are terribly endangered by a motorcycle speeding in a single lane) and when that’s shown to be false you want to talk about a “total loss”. This is also pretty baseless. A motorcycle rear-ending a hypothetical car at a 45mph speed differential is unlikely to be a total loss of the car.
And you’re completely disregarding the head-on collision when that biker comes across the median and hits the car with a ~180mph speed differential.
Oh, neat, more absurd hypotheticals that are phenomenally unlikely. Meanwhile, motorcyclists are killed all the time by oncoming drivers turning left across their path or simply veering into the motorcyclist’s lane because dicking around on their phone is more important than controlling a multi-ton box.
Or the T-bone when the car doesn’t see the >100mph biker and turns across his path.
Do you make a lot of turns on freeways?

This always strikes me as odd because, given the AI race, the future value of each company is basically infinity or zero.

Do you realize how much of my day would be spent eating and shitting in order to meet my macronutrient targets by consuming broccoli? I’d just be sitting around all day like some kind of gorilla.

The trauma of witnessing a lethal accident and traffic delays due to cleanup have different severities but each can have lasting impacts on people.
You may not have noticed, but there was no collision in the article being discussed. He was speeding in traffic that was so light that he didn’t even need to change lanes. There was no collision. He had something like a 45mph speed differential versus other traffic.
How about you stop pontificating on hypotheticals and look at the actual situation being discussed?
Also, if you’re so concerned about the trauma of seeing motorcyclists injured, then you should be focusing on driver training and PSAs about scanning the road for more vulnerable road users. Motorcyclists are injured or killed by inattentive or reckless drivers at a rate vastly higher than the reverse.

people in cars die to speeding motorcycles every day.
No, they fucking don’t. It’s phenomenally rare. It’s utterly unheard of in one-way, divided traffic.

500 pounds of bike and rider impacting another vehicle at >100mph can easily kill everyone in that other vehicle.
Maybe if the other vehicle is a tandem bicycle. Nobody is dying in a modern car or SUV due to being rear-ended by a motorcycle with a ~45mph speed differential.
You’re not going to be personally harmed under those conditions on a freeway. A side impact due to cross- or turning-traffic on a two-way road? Maybe. Even then, a modern car is going to fare phenomenally well and much of the impact energy is turned into catapulting the rider into the air.

“But there’s a fairly decent amount of traffic. He was not weaving. He wasn’t doing anything like that. He was in a straight line in the left lane.”
I don’t care at all about a motorcycle riding at those speeds under those conditions.
ACAB because of cop favoritism, and fuck this scumbag in particular, though.

As an American, the closest I’ve come up death, by far, is on bicycles. I’m also a motorcyclist, but my closest calls have been on bicycles.
I’ve also had bicycles stolen. Per mile traveled, it’s amazing how often they’re stolen.
Bicycling in America is a great way to put your life at risk and have to take a taxi home because someone stole your vehicle. If you try to improve it with things like “15 minute city” initiatives, right-wingers freak out about a conspiracy to control them. It sucks.
Fuck trains, too, at least in America. The other day, I had to wait almost half an hour while a cargo and lumber train blocked my path, switching cars on and off of a branch line. There were probably 50+ cars, idling in the heat for half an hour, all so that some train company can make a few bucks by abusing its employees, inconveniencing the public, and skip infrastructure maintenance on land that was granted to them generations ago.

Anyone still posting on reddit (who isn’t a bot) is working for free for an unscrupulous company.
Reddit was founded during the “crowdsourcing” craze. People realized that they could launch websites where all the content was created by the users, and it would snowball into daily views.
My point is that posting and commenting on Reddit has always been doing free work for an unscrupulous company. You could argue that it wasn’t unscrupulous before it went public, but even that is debatable.

GenX American here. I thought that it might be him, but I wasn’t certain and couldn’t think of his name off the top of my head. I know he was involved in a lot of hits from my 20s, but the only reason that i recognize his face is from the Derren Brown TV spot, which I only know about because I had a co-worker who was an amateur magician.

Strong 8th grade vibes. “I asked Becky if she would be my girlfriend and she said no, so I crossed her name off my textbook cover and wrote BITCH over it. That’ll show her! Why isn’t she noticing what I wrote? Fuckin’ Becky is such a bitch, she hasn’t even looked at what I wrote over her name!”

They could go against this, but what would they win?
Accuracy. Literally the #1 thing I value in maps. Changing the name tells me that they care about political appeasement more than accuracy.

it is considered cannon that it’s not ok to kill children or unarmed ppl
If they have a cannon, then they’re not unarmed.
If anyone criticizes it, they just laugh at how they got the liberals upset. This sort of disingenuous, trolling interaction is core to their behavior. Said something too racist? “LOL libtard, it was a joke, why are you so triggered?” No error is ever acknowledged. Instead, they simply pretend it was all a joke or manipulation in order to upset you. Sure, they’re gullible, but “their side” is part of their identity, and they’re willing to lie to everyone, including themselves, to maintain the illusion of strength and correctness.
