Are you under the impression that the only way things happen is by direct vote on the issue? Nearly everything you cite is a result of the elected officials in power. Put there by the voters.

You’re citing examples of other forms of redress, not disproving the effectiveness of voting. I never claimed voting was the only (or even the most effective) form of redress, only that it is one.

It isn’t the end all and be all, it is the first step. If you don’t take the opportunity given to you to address your grievances, why should you expect others to do it for you?

WhatsApp has market share from the momentum gained in countries that didn’t have free/cheap SMS. I too find it wild that it’s the default in most of the world, and it’s super shady and super proprietary. The messaging that we have in the US is far far far from perfect, but at least it’s not Facebook Chat.

I do not think I’m immune from disinformation, which means I try very hard to use critical thinking at all times. I’m suggesting they should have as well.

Failure to adequately address homelessness is a policy failure, and worthy of critique. It is not an atrocity caused by those people.

At some point you have to allow them their agency. They are adults, and only one of us is treating them as such.

I’m not arguing for either, although taxing/eating the rich should always be on the table.

I’m saying that while in the macro sense disinformation has had a devastating effect on society, I’m not ready to let those “fooled” by it off the hook. It’s the 2020s, if you’re fooled by disinformation to this degree, you’ve let yourself be fooled.
