I like Nodutdol’s Korea Education Toolkit for beginners. Doesn’t require being a Marxist-Leninist or anything. I also recommend Blowback Season 3, but for Blowback I’d start with Season 1 as it’s all good and relevant. Like the first rec, doesn’t require you to be a Marxist-Leninist to understand.

They aren’t the same, the US is far worse. Why is it bad for media to be publicly owned, in a country where the working classes control the state? In the US Empire, the CIA and NSA already spy on everyone, and capitalists control all media and the state.

You can read bibles in China. Freedom of religion does exist in the PRC. China has more freedom for its working classes than exists in, say, the US Empire.

Self-expression, I would argue, heightens in socialism and communism, as your existence is less tied to your ability to generate profits for others and your needs are more taken care of. The individualism socialists fight against is the anti-social type, the kind that seeks to profit off of others and compete with them, rather than work together to achieve the best outcome for everyone. This does not go counter to self-expression.
