7·9 days agopatches to the Linux kernel and KDE
I think currently it might only work for AMD, but I think Nvidia could take advantage of it without too much work

2·24 days agoon the communities page https://piefed.zip/communities there’s a button for Create local community
https://piefed.zip/community/add_local
crosspost is the little circle arrows button in a post

I feel like a new Jazz the Jackrabbit or Jill of the Jungle would have a better chance of making money than trying Unreal Tournament again lol

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•SteamOS update adds support for Steam Machine and other non-Valve hardware - HDR, VRR, multi-monitor support, and better discrete GPU performanceEnglish
5·28 days agowait, isn’t it a huge deal if they got VRR working on AMD Linux?
I guess this doesn’t say if it’s for HDMI or not
I think there is a third one too, they can all talk to each other on here.
Mbin is the other big one. Also NodeBB has recently started federating with the Threadiverse too.
This graph is PieFed by itself, Lemmy is still the majority of the users here

Lemmy@lemmy.ml•[Suggestion] Duplicate URLs should be grouped together into singular posts on the front pageEnglish
0·1 month agoThis is supposed to work and I’ve seen it work. But so many people complain about this that I think it must be bugged and doesn’t always work. Maybe it doesn’t work when the posts are on different pages.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•It's 2026, how are you playing Battle.net games these days?English
1·2 months agoI used Lutris for bnet games that are not on Steam, works great with SC2, if you want to force compile all shaders, run the “unit preloader” custom map
I’ve heard Faugus is good too

PieFed Meta@piefed.social•Feature suggestion: communities that notify subscribers by defaultEnglish
4·2 months agoThis is an interesting idea and yeah it would, in theory, help replace Discord better.
But in practice, I’m having a tough time thinking WHICH communities would be good like this. Definitely not a !games community. Maybe something niche like !stauf_mansion@lemmy.mods4ever.com lol but I’m not sure if the subscribers there would actually want that.

Gaming@lemmy.zip•Linux Mint may slow down releases to have more development timeEnglish
5·2 months agoWill they still offer updates to newer kernels in between? They kind of need that for the gaming audience, for compatibility with newer hardware and for gaming performance

PieFed Meta@piefed.social•[UI Enhancement idea] locally interpreted timeEnglish
2·2 months agoI think they should replicate Discord’s format since it’s already popular and there are tools already made for it. They can maybe also reuse the name “hammer time” so users are aware
