A coalition led by the ACLU has filed a federal lawsuit challenging Biden’s executive order blocking asylum when there are “too many” asylum seekers at the border. The lead attorney for the ACLU, Lee Gelernt, points out that this policy is nearly identical to Trump-era border policies. Gelernt also notes that the new policy is inconsistent with existing asylum laws at both the federal and international level.
