I have no firsthand knowledge for this and this is pure speculation, but I suspect that this was far more likely to be an automated goalkeeper system misidentifying and or firing in a line at a valid target through the path of the friendly jet than anything else.

I’m confused, why do they say “two pilots” rather than “two crew”?
