I doubt that George Lucas did any real worldbuilding for his stories. He might have taken some notes and scribbled down some ideas, but if he really ever had some serious worldbuilding behind his movies, he sure managed to totally wreck it on the screen. It is a total mess of inconsistencies, to the point that I disagree to apply the term “Science Fiction” to the Star Wars franchise. It simply is a kids fairy tale wrapped in a space ship-shaped trench coat.
Yeah, I’ve said for a long time that Star Wars is action/adventure with scifi dressing.
Indeed, it’s space fantasy
No, not even that. Like SciFi, Fantasy needs world building. Something that GL never did. Dont insult Tolkien or Sanderson by calling Star Wars “Fantasy”.
Ah… originaltrilogy.com. Those folks deserve some sort of cultural preservation award for what they’ve done for Star Wars.
I have dvds with the original trilogy. The only person I’ve let borrow them works for a film archive, so I knew they have the correct respect. Anyone else can watch them at my house. My video and audio is probably better than theirs anyway.

I assume these are the bonus discs in the 2006 release?

If you pride yourself on your home theatre system, you may want to look into “Harmy Despecialized” and “4k77”. The 2006 DVDs are generally regarded as poor quality, as they are non-anamorphic video sourced from the 1993 LaserDisc releases.
I’m not entirely sure what edition I have, as I didn’t seek them out. They were a gift. There was a funny incident that caused a friend to seek them out and gift them to me.
I will admit, they aren’t the best in the audio/visual department in comparison to other releases I have from that era. I’ll definitely check that out. Thank you for the recommendation!
Thank you for the recommendation!
You’re welcome! Let me know if you need any additional pointers. They can be a bit more difficult to… “obtain” as they are not “official” releases, despite being more faithful to the original films than any official release has ever been :)
