    toxic masculinity imported from abroad is what i think is responsible for this. there is this perception that ‘men’ must ‘act manly’. people like Andrew Tate and others spewing dogshit brainwashing zoomers not only in the west but also in the global south.

    Ironic since these mfers are the either extremely “soy” looking or have gym muscles.

    i do not think India pre-2010 (before internet became more widespread) would have been like this. Yes, trans and especially gay people have always faced discrimination but you wouldn’t have have seen people celebrating a suicide. goes to show how important censorship and having a firewall is.

      yeah , cross dressers and hijras were kinda respected in a sense but after BJP radicalism and westernization of cyber space , all things have gone to hell.
