Today was a historic day for the movement in solidarity with Palestine. In dozens of cities and towns across the country, tens of thousands took to the streets to support the Palestinian people’s just struggle for liberation with less than 24 hours notice.

While the government that speaks in our name signs the checks that pay for [neocolonialism’s] massacres, the impressive scale of these emergency actions made it clear that the people stand with Palestine. The ANSWER Coalition is proud to have joined with other organizations in helping to organize and initiate many of these actions. And this struggle is just beginning — mobilizations are continuing nationwide.

Washington, D.C.

San Francisco, California

The unrelenting oppression, murder, torture and occupation carried out by the [neocolonial] apartheid régime has precipitated a counter-offensive by Palestinian resistance forces. The [neocolonial] war machine, and its attendant systems of oppression, are bought and paid for by U.S. [neo]imperialism. U.S. tax dollars fund the grinding oppression of the Palestinian people to the tune of $4 billion each year.

Many of the actions today were slandered and vilified by politicians who shamefully stand with the apartheid government in [the Middle East]. Protesters refused to be silenced and proudly took to the streets. We know that we are on the right side of history – and those who stand with a racist regime that systematically and horrifically violates fundamental rights are on the wrong side.

The nationwide protests demanded the U.S. immediately end all aid to [the neocolony]. The actions also raised demands for the freedom of Palestinian political prisoners and an end to the blockade of Gaza. As [the apartheid government] pledges to wage a war of annihilation and the Palestinian people remain steadfast in their determination to resist, this movement will continue to take to the streets until Palestine is free!

I only know the Answer coalition from hearing about them here and there. What do they need the donations for? I would rather donate to NGOs helping out families in Gaza than an org organizing protests in the US right now. I think it would be more productive.

Protests are one of the easiest ways to continue on and spread radical socialist ideas. Just today I believe, a handful of European countries recently blocked the EU’s decision to suspend aid to Palestine. Do you think they just did that on their own accord? No, there were revolutionary minded people in those countries who made sure the right ideas were spread.

Point being that you have to reach the masses if you want to actually affect change. Not to mention, the main speakers at these events were Palestinian liberation & socialist voices (or at least the one I went to). If what they were doing was irrelevant, then zionist counterprotestors wouldn’t have showed up, and there wouldn’t be orgs like Canary Mission which has doxxed people I know IRL, and not to mention, the US and Israel wouldn’t spend hundreds of billions on propoganda churning machines to counter us.

on a sidenote, NGO’s are kinda scammy in their own right and often have an effect of deradicalizing people. Despite them being “NGO’s”, they’re often times reliant on the government for funding. At that point, you might as well try to find families to send it directly to.

Could be, but applying pressure to stop those fat checks the US government sends to Israel is probably pretty good for the Palestinian people as well.

While I agree that these protests won’t stop the funneling of money to Israel, increasing awareness in the Imperial Core is still important if we want to eliminate it long term. Protests aren’t for educating or changing the politicians. They are for the people.

While we may never rest under the shade of the tree whose seeds we plant today, we plant these seeds anyway for future generations.

Resistance is justified by all means? So raping and murdering German citizens and kidnapping kids is justified now?

Resistance to oppression is always justified just as it’s not for those who are privileged enough not to understand what that oppression feels like to judge how the oppressed resist.

I never said the action was justified just that resistance was, way to show you can’t comprehend this simple idea.

Resistance to oppression is always justified

They were specifically asking whether those acts were justified under the umbrella of “by all means” and you said how resistance to oppression is “always justified”.

You might want to rephrase that if your intention was something other than justify rape as a form of resistance.

As long as there is oppressed peoples there will be injustices, both for the oppressed and for anyone unlucky enough to be caught in the inevitable lash out.

You will never get me to condem oppressed peoples and I will always side with oppressed peoples against fascist states.

If you are not antifascist then what are you?

There were two ‘Reigns of Terror,’ if we would but remember it and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon ten thousand persons, the other upon a hundred millions; but our shudders are all for the ‘horrors’ of the minor Terror, the momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe, compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty, and heart-break?

What is swift death by lightning compared with death by slow fire at the stake? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief Terror which we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror–that unspeakably bitter and awful Terror which none of us has been taught to see in its vastness or pity as it deserves.

This is what real resistance looks like. Deal with it! This made no one hate them who didn’t already secretly hate them. We all know the westerners who now cry crocodile tears either never lifted a finger to stop the daily brutality inflicted on Palestinians for decades, or made no secret of openly hating Palestinians to begin with.

And i’ll let you in on a secret: Palestinians simply no longer care what western crackers think. Because they have already done everything humanly possible to try to curry sympathy, to try and get the world to see them as human beings, and it has done jack shit for them. It has brought their liberation not one step closer, it has only gotten worse and people like you allowed it.

So if they are going to be murdered no matter what they might as well go out fighting their oppressor. They do not owe it to you to fight their liberation struggle according to your hypocritical morals. You only pretend to care about Palestinians when they are getting slaughtered, when they are being the perfect victims, now that they are fighting back you have shown your true face for everyone to see.

So if they are going to be murdered no matter what they might as well go out fighting their oppressor. They do not owe it to you to fight their liberation struggle according to your hypocritical morals.

Palestinians have been denied their humanity and therefore no longer have a moral responsibility to limit their efforts for freedom.

You can see this effect illustrated more vividly in the case of slavery. An object has no morality and cannot commit a crime. Therefore if you are denied personhood you have no responsibility to anything except yourself and your fellows. Nothing is impermissible in the struggle to gain freedom, no matter the means necessary. The oppressed owe no mercy to those who deny them even their humanity.

Resisting genocide is the same thing. Survival and self determination is the most basic goal of all people and Palestinians should rightfully do whatever is necessary to avoid their annihilation at the hands of Isreali settlers and their colonial ambitions.

I agree that Israel should not be treating Palestinians the way they are. Both sides are horrible.

So you agree that invasion and genocide is wrong but believe that terrorism is equally bad? Even when that terrorism is in response to decades of horrific apartheid? Clearly this is not a “both sides” issue.

Don’t go to fucking music festivals in an occupied state with an ongoing genocide if you don’t want to get caught in the crossfire. Attending music festivals is not a necessity for life, however, resisting genocide is.
