Officially called CSMT, it was originally Bombay VT with VT = Victoria Terminus. Old Timers might still refer by the later name. It is possibly the single most grandest train station in India. This image does not do justice to it but I could not clock in a proper one.

          That is true I guess stuff built pre 1970s in the US had art to it, detroit had a fancy train station too now that I think about it.

          Nowadays they do not seem to bother.

      Not really. The speeds of trains is still a major constriction and Indian Railways is a major laggard vis a vis say, China. Sure, some aspects are advancing (electrification for one, 90%+ tracks are electrified) but high speed rail is still in it’s infancy (still under construction with help from Japan).

        I live in the united States there are hundreds of miles wide squares that simply do not have any trains here.

        Amtrak recently de-electrified some segments of track.

        China may be better and currently doing great things. Obviously Japan is the best at this.

        But India is still a magical wonderland of railways.
