The perverse irony appears to be completely lost on them.
It is not lost in them. The intention is to equate their “facts” with actual reality.
And they are succeeding.
The overton window’s been hauled so far into the red sea, facts are now liberal.
If one were to check left-leaning publications’ fact checking records, they’d find a fuck ton of media labelled “Heavily biased” with spotless reports for authentic journalism. Take one tippy-toe step to the right of neutral and it gets awful hard to find the truth.
