From what I heard last in Chinese Energy on Energi Media, province to province there’s competition to make wind and solar power and sell it to each other, there is some coal in the interior being phased out but there’s only oil and gas power used at eastern port cities, which their dependence is what sounded to me like a make-work project more than anything. I think there will be huge demand worldwide for the products china built up their industry for. I betcha now that those port cities are going to want to transition away as well.
Asian countries import the most oil through the strait of Hormuz (https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=65504), makes sense that they’d get hit hardest first.
