OK, the closest Metro to me runs every 4 minutes in off peak.
More existing Metro is not what we need.
It’s expanding the reach and regularity in the outer suburbs that have no or irregular PT.
Sadly though that is going to be a far harder thing to accomplish in the short term! Really the truth is we need to stop allowing Sydney to grow out but instead need to really incentivise developing higher density to help justify more PT
I shit you not.
At one point, where I live, they had Public Transport on demand. I think it was a trial.
Outside of peak times, the local bus will have you and the driver. It’s basically a huge inefficient limo. (Aside: shout out to the friendly local bus drivers! You keep our world moving!)
They tried offering an option where either via app or calling up, you could ‘order’ a van like vehicle to pick you up.
I could never bring myself to try it, but I could kinda see the sense of it.
And for places without any bus services at all, well let it rip!
