While straight up laughing is definitely fun, giggling requires so little and it is much more socially acceptable at many situations, simply because it is so spontaneous. Giggle away.

It’s fun when it’s an appropriate reaction to the situation, but it really sucks to giggle at really inappropriate times. It just makes already stressful/terrible situations that much worse and weirder.

Hearing people giggle makes me so happy because it feels like such a genuine reaction of theirs, and some people have delightful giggles. Nick Offerman has a great one.

My family handles tragedy with blunt humor. In movies I usually see one person doing this and everyone else appearing shocked, but my most common funeral experience is the family doing their own version of the funeral set with the in-laws getting uncomfortable about how accepted it seems. Some people are weirder than others, and I could see something like that being said and raising eyebrows, but it’s easier to move past it when 40-90% of the attendees are also constantly doing the same thing.
