It’s not totally indiscriminate, they aren’t shelling their own forces or they’d have a revolt. US special forces are known to be embedded with them doing “raids”. US surveillance uncrewed aerial vehicles (drones) are also in the area providing them surveillance. There was recently an unconfirmed report that a top US sniper was shot and killed there.
