Self-reporting and self-declaration was always going to fail… Companies always need to be regulated and checked.
Self-reporting and self-declaration are not a problem. You still have to comply and you still can get fined. So that’s what we are all waiting for.
Right now these companies are calculating that it’s worth paying the fines to not comply. Let’s make that calculation change.
yea it’s stupid, if you can afford it, fines become something of a paid subscription to do illegal stuff, or at least this is a lot of companies’ mentality
This is why Europe is applying an increasing rate to violation. At first, it just raises a bit a the cost of doing business, but at one point it reaches billions and needs to be taken into account in the profit lines.
