So, every parking space is going to have a charger? Because those times that I’ve been to one of these big gas stations, I don’t leave my car blocking the pump while I wander around inside looking for the restroom.
Exactly. If you charge (even just L2) in at least one destination in your commute (work, home), you’ll be net positive on charge. Then you only need rapid charging for long distance trips, which for the vast majority of people don’t happen very often.
Many people here in Metro Detroit block the pumps. Makes me grumble every damn time. The selfishness of it. I move my ass and park every time if I gotta go in.
You just do your stuff and in the meanwhile you plug it in, no time wasted. And since the network is so extensive, there’s no reason to be completely recharged. Just charge for the time you’re there and move on to the next place.
Parking is an enormous opportunity cost in any sort of built up area. The cost of providing charging is going to be a lot smaller than the cost of not building something remotely useful (ie the cost everyone already has to pay every time they decide to build a parking space instead of a coffee shop).
Unless you’re somewhere that requires parking via zoning laws, I imagine that would create a lot of unwanted parking that nobody is remotely interested in investing any more in than necessary

I mean yeah, that is kinda the ideal.
I mean we kinda have electricity everywhere anyway. Unless you out in the sticks or desert there are already high voltage power lines.
Even in the boonies you have ways to get high voltage power. Renewables and a battery bank, or even a genny is a better option than an ICE.

That’s pretty much the case in my country.
