Programmer Humor@programming.dev•I love password based login
14·1 month agoI would love to use my physical Yubikey, but all the websites I’ve seen that allow passkey login always deny both Yubikeys.
Just make JSON5 the new official version and I would be ok

Privacy@lemmy.ml•LocalSend – Open-Source AirDrop Alternative (Offline & Cross-Platform)
7·3 months agoIf you want to send files between just your own devices KDE Connect is great and can do many other things too. If you are on Gnome there is a gnome extension for better integration (gsconnect I think?)

Even without capitalism I prefer having been able to read the existing books without an ending over not being able to read any of them. I can get some enjoyment from the journey even without a destination

Linux@lemmy.ml•The (successful) end of the kernel Rust experiment
33·4 months agoNo. The Rust code in the kernel is GPLv2 just like the rest of the kernel. The licence of the compiler has nothing to do with that, that’s nonsense Rust haters make up.
You can argue against independent projects like the Rust coreutils not using a copyleft license, but that has nothing to do with Rust or the kernel. There are independent C projects without non-copyleft licenses too.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•HDMI Forum is unwilling to disclose the 2.1 specification for open-source (Linux): according to AMD, they had submitted a functional, HDMI 2.1-compatible driver [for linux?], which the Forum rejected.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Valve’s Android compatibility layer now has its official name, Lepton, and a cute frog logo.English
16·4 months agoWe know that it started as a fork of Waydroid
- ValveTestApp3043620 mentions Waydroid
- Lepton & Lepton Development still have a hero_capsule.jpg mentioning Waydroid
But:
Update: While Lepton was based from Waydroid at the beginning
It seems to be a lot more custom now. To the point where it’s being described as “not really Waydroid anymore” from those who are working on it

18·5 months agoLinux has close to the best support for games possible without support from the game developers.
Other windows software usually isn’t quite as good in my experience, but still better than non-native software on any other operating system.
Never used a DAW, so I can’t say anything about that.

It’s not an entire OS, just an app that you can use to read ebooks with lots of features.
