Oh absolutely. I have hundreds of hours logged, probably over a thousand now. It just gets so complicated and intense that I give up before getting anywhere near “end game”.

I’m surprised anyone has the patience to get to a space ship. I get bored late midgame when you run out of steel and have to juggle caravans and a colony which is constantly beset with attacks and adverse conditions.

Seriously, folks in the US need to start organising. The people in charge of your country are going to take everything you have if you let them. Resist.

282·7 months agoI don’t know if this applies in the US but multiple people can take out a mortgage against the same property. If you have 3/4 trustworthy friends then you can pool your money to buy a place. It’s complicated but better to invest your money in your own property than to line the pockets of cunt landlords and letting agents.

7·7 months agoI was you until about 3 months ago when I discovered Microsoft sells cloud services to the IDF. Political motivations aside, I would encourage you to try out a KDE plasma linux distro. It’s laid out pretty much exactly the same as windows 10 and bazzite worked for me out of the box even with a relatively rare gaming laptop build.

Technology@lemmy.world•Spotify fans threaten to return to piracy as music streamer introduces new face-scanning age checks in the UKEnglish
4·7 months agoUnfortunately most of the major players are involved in some sort of evilness as far as I am aware. Spotify/Google/Apple are all pretty unethical companies. Personally, I have made the decision to cut out the middle man and sail the seven seas while also supporting the artists I like by being a vinyl wanker and going to gigs.
As for streaming services (I am very happy to be corrected here because I am not certain) AFAIK both tidal and qobuz are good alternatives. Qobuz is based in France so your data will be safer but Tidal is a bit cheaper.

News@lemmy.world•Brutal arrest of Black student in Florida shows benefits of recording police from new vantage point
1·7 months agoYes. I think the death penalty is barbaric and would make us as bad as they are. Better to either educate, or lock em up and throw away the key, so they can spend the rest of their lives regretting their actions. Preferably in an dystopian pig game scenario as a warning to everyone else.

211·7 months agoThe death penalty might be a bit extreme, however, I am in favour of a dystopian tournament where these cunts have to face a series of increasingly dangerous tasks in order to be provided with food.
Could call it Pig Game.

And how does the average joe bring about social change?

Comic Strips@lemmy.world•Sitting on the Road is Dangerous
321·7 months agoHere we go. So many bad takes here, so let me explain for those who don’t understand how protest works:
Stopping traffic doesn’t save the environment. Never has, never will. Neither does throwing paint on artwork or ancient monuments.
IT’S ABOUT ATTENTION. It’s about keeping the issue in the papers, on the TV, on the Facebook feed and front page of Reddit. Remember Extinction Rebellion? They used to do this shit then stopped because of the bad press. You hear about them anymore? Ever hear the phrase ‘there’s no such thing as bad press’? It’s true. Because as long as people are talking about you then you remain relevant.
Climate change is a global existential problem and it’s not going to be solved by ignoring it and hoping it will go away. Criticising the heroes who sacrifice their freedom to make the world a better place just marks you as a shortsighted legacy media chode. You’re worried about people being made late for work? Come see me again when the supermarket shelves are empty and everywhere between the tropics is unliveable.

There’s a FUCKING QUARRY MOD???!!! Thank you kind sir. I’m going mining.
