What do you expect them to do run on a 1% margin like a grocery store?
The 30% cut isn’t and has never been an actual problem even on other storefronts.
The problem comes down to how they’re justifying that 30% cut. If you’re taking a 30% cut doing nothing to reinvest it into the infrastructure r&d or give back with it and you’re just pocketing it as pure profit then yes, it’s Overkill and should be dropped.
Valve does not operate like that. Large chunks of that go directly back into improving the infrastructure or helping pay their employees a better wage so that they can then in turn help out the community more.
They also reinvest into projects and give away their work for free.
They’re literally taking that 30% cut, putting in all the hard work paying the bills and then giving away all of that work for free. Yes it serves them but are you going to complain that your money unlike your taxes actually went back into helping you.
The customers are actually getting part of that 30% cut in value.
So long is that remains true then it’s fine. In the moment it stops it is no longer fine.
Just hating in the 30% cut because oh no 30% is a big number is ignorant and ignores reality.
