  • lol the amount of times I’ve seen AI do.

No wait that’s wrong try this

Oh wait that’s also wrong that still doesn’t work try this.

    No still wouldn’t do it.

On just questions without asking it to correct itself, (which tells me internally they have some kind of… basically reviewing it’s own answers before they go out.

Honestly I do wonder if we’ll get there

a hello world program would just spin back and forth “Rejected demanded these fixes”, Rejected making it more like the original, rejected. retrying

“you have spent your entire $50,000 token budget… would you like to restock and keep going”.

  • I mean that’s largely true, but it’s not like PC hardware isn’t currently relevant to the current system as well. About 2-3 years ago I went all out and built my son a 3 grand gaming PC (divorced dad energy), about a month ago I looked up the parts. The exact same build that’s now 2-3 years more outdated components, would run about 5 grand now.

So yeah… while I’ve been largely out of consoles for a while now. gaming hardware in general is pricing everyone out right now as data centers are bidding everyone up…

  • Honestly on so many things, no joke there but the right constantly proposes the democrats as, awesome and great.

    It’s like

Right: My democratic opponent wants to help the homeless, and make sure average people have a dignified life. and not torture babies for no reason!

People: Hey you know that actually sounds like a good idea

Actual democratic candidate: Those people on the right are slandering me, don’t worry I won’t make any of your lives easier, and here I’ll torture a baby right now to prove this slander wrong!

Right but not only is it a security weakness, but it’s also not helpful to the user. Point is the username probably exists in the system.

Say I went to a website to register TheFogan, but TheFogan already exists, so I created TheFogan2.

3 years later I go back to the website, try and log in with username: “TheFogan” password: “Hunter2”, and it tells me “your username is right but your password is wrong”. But in reality I have the right password for my account, but the site would just think I have the wrong password for the guy who beat me to my account.

So yeah agreed the primary reason for it is security, IE a fully user focused, while having bad security practices would be, a "if the username exists in the system, report “Username and password don’t match”, if the username doesn’t exist report “There is no user by this name in the system”. My point is the site only can know if they have a user by that username, not whether that is MY username.

Also western propaganda. Russia isnt ‘taking’ anything theyre liberating Ukrainians who have been under the rule of an illegitimate empire installed government since 2014 and have already voiced they want to be closer to russia

Ah yes good old liberating the people, kind of like when Iraq and Venuzuela hailed the united states as liberators,

best I’m finding on that polling is https://www.kiis.com.ua/?lang=eng&cat=reports&id=236

To which, almost 70% supported open borders and friendly relations with russia, with absolute seperation and complete mergers both being under 15%.

Also if they wanted to just let russia have ukraine why haven’t they done another revolution like they did their pro russian leader that tore up the EU negotiations they had.

North korea can be propogandized like crazy because… unfortunately one of it’s defining traits is preventing it’s people from talking to the world. Ukranians seem pretty darn determined not to be “liberated”. Hell I’d imagine the war would be over pretty darn fast if the ukranians wanted it. White flags, surrender, get captured to protect themselves if their government is making them fight by intimidation.

Yeah the big thing to me is the problem of the invader. Honestly on the grand scheme of things I dont’ care who does what… but what really needs to happen is, people need to stop going on the offense. US, Isreal and Russia are currently all the ones leading attacks in other people’s territory.

I’m happy for China in their "my way works, watch me sit back and show you how successful I can be in normal peacetime. When a nation has to raid other nations for their resources or land, that’s IMO demonstrating what you have is unsustainable.

Ukrain take or leave it’s intentions how good or bad it is. what’s clear is showing the idea that russia can just take it, is in itself a bigger problem. Just like Iran, I have zero sympathy for the government of Iran, I consider them barbaric and horrible. That being said directly attacking them, is a horrible action.

I mean it’s a grey area there… I think the overall propoganda created after vietnam (Rambo movies etc…), helped people learn to seperate and understand that a war can be wrong, and the soldiers can be good people serving their country.

IE maybe it’s the bubbles I live in, and most these memories are pre-trump, but I heard no shortage of people that could go off for hours on how horrible the war on terror was, how stupid and monsterous bush was to send so many to kill and be killed, and still go out of their way to say “thank you for your service” to men coming back from iraq.

  • I mean easy enough to recreate it with a more open database, but yeah key issue is userbase. Same flaw with trying to make a better dating site, or anything else location specific. It’s barely feasible for things like lemmy and mastadon where we pull from international pools of people that mostly don’t care if the other users are 500 miles away.

When you try to do a facebook equivelant, doesn’t really go anywhere because, people don’t need just people, but people they actually know.

and yeah trying to get “people in the same city”.

as obviously one guy just reporting the gas stations around him, for an application that only he uses, is just a fancy notebook, and the real problem is would he continue using it long enough for a second to appear and make it actually beneficial for anyone.
