The way it was explained to me, praying to a Saint to speak to God on your behalf is like asking a friend to pray for you. You could just pray to God yourself, but for some reason, having more people pray for you is better.

Chances are, it isn’t. The early Catholic Church did a lot of this kind of thing, where they would claim to have a piece of the cross, or a bone of St Peter in a church. It was just to drive tourism into their churches. If you took all the claimed pieces of the cross and assembled them, it would make far more than one cross.
Right. Throughout human history, if someone was cast out of a community, they didn’t survive. We’ve been trained through evolution to go along with the tribe because it’s unsafe to question anything and get cast out.
That’s great, but the fact it’s local and private means it can consume my personal data and be a more personal LLM. This just doesn’t hit that mark.
Apple Maps was bad, yes. But they had their hand forced. Google started charging for their API (enough to cripple their app), and they had very little time to create one of their own.
That’s not happening here. No one is forcing their hand. If they didn’t release an updated Siri this year, nothing would happen.
Yes. Android already does all these things. But I think the things I’m excited most about are not on this list at all.
A private local LLM. With the on-device context of my notes, messages, calendar, etc, I’m rather excited to have a more personal LLM than ChatGPT.
Personal messaging via satellite. I love that I can stay in touch with people outside of a cell network.
Sometimes you can get therapy covered through health insurance. It’s worth checking, because therapy can be really helpful, even just for having someone to share stresses with. I hope you’re able to find someone!
Agreed. You could argue that Reddit is actually overcrowded.
Translation for those of us in the civilized world:
The temperature yesterday was between 26° and 32°. The forecast shows it may get all the way to 43° in the coming week.

The programmer in me definitely noticed the formatting issue.
For the record, my name isn’t actually Mike Smith.
It won’t happen like that. Leadership will just under-hire and expect all their developers to be way more efficient. Working will be really stressful with increased deadlines and people questioning why you couldn’t meet them.
So, I assume Fox is selling this to RTV. The big issue I see is that future shows are made to potentially sell in the future. They first air in America, then get sold to Russia. All written with the end goal of selling to Russia.

“Metro” is used formally and is a formal designation used for things like statistical purposes. “Greater” is less formal and is used by the general public. I’ve heard Greater Vancouver far more than Metro Vancouver, but with those definitions, there are likely both.
No. You’re not a source of terror. But people don’t know that. They just see a man. The issue isn’t with you, it’s with common experiences women have had with men.
There are so many bears that don’t hurt humans. But humans carry bear spray just in case the one they encounter is dangerous.
Women were talking about men in general. Some men took it as though they specifically were being targeted. If women don’t feel comfortable running alone at night because men can be predators, men in general should listen. When I hear that, I don’t take offence. I’m with you, I’ve never done anything. But we should be trying to figure out ways that women can feel more comfortable around men. Women shouldn’t need to feel like they have their guard up, and listening is the first step.
Correct answer. Sometimes I get things wrong, but I do my best to learn how I can do things to be more like this. Whatever label that is.
Absolutely it’s the best way forward. The catch is that it’s hard to calculate. If I write an app that saves someone 3 minutes of each work day, how much am I taxed on what I automated? We can just tax the rich, and assume they automate away everyone’s jobs.
Congrats everyone, we got the Purge, but remember this is America where hoarding happens. Everyone doesn’t get one day, one person gets 4 years.
