Honestly, I’m just wondering if Trump is so accustomed to people bending the knee that when someone rocks up and tells him to his face that he’s nothing special, he becomes the sycophant because he needs everyone to love him. It’s not about the power. The abuse of power is largely about exercising the limits of his popularity to prove to himself he has worth and value. Seeing how far his own sycophants will stretch is his way of feeling meaningful and important, quite likely trying to prove that to his dead father. Kim Jong Il is his ideal. He could kill someone in the middle of Pyongyang Ave and no one would bat an eye.

It doesn’t hurt that Mamdani is the new fave son of the city Trump cannot win over no matter what he does, no matter what title he holds.

New York is a proxy for Trump’s dad. He’s always gonna be a disappointment to his father, and will go to his grave having never bathed in the glow of his father’s pride.

Yeah, sticking it in a drawer might be their tactic, but congress would have to not be in session for it to work. If it was unanimously approved by both the House and the Senate, it would normally mean there are enough votes to override a veto, but if he did actually veto I wouldn’t put it past them not to hold an override vote.

We’d get a second-hand book sale just before school starts where there school would on-sell used books bought back (or donated) from previous years. All the parents and many kids would look for the book in the best condition. If you knew what was up, you’d thumb through them all and look for the ones with highlighting and the margin notes. My parents were like “why do you want the ratty old one?” But didn’t press the issue too hard cos at least they were cheaper than the pristine ones where the spine had never been cracked.

We struck up a conversation and there were sparks right away. She’s a redhead and a bit fiery, but I think a little friction is only going to fan the flames of desire.

Pretty sure that’s Andrew Holness but it looks like he’s JLP not PNP. Now I’m confused. He was PM of Jamaica for three months at the end of 2011. An election was held at that point and the PNP won, displacing him. Perhaps that was a shirt PNP supporters at the time were using to rally the troops, or a shirt printed afterwards to mock him for only being in for 3 months… I have no idea.
