havecaused.I’m pretty sure that’s a lot of this issue. They were bullies and assholes in school and always picked on the “weird kid(s)” and now that they’re being referred to that way they’re freaking out because they’re scared they’re going to become a target.

In the US, electric vehicles are only affordable for wealthy drivers.
Here’s 14 used EVs for under 5k. Yeah, they’re not the greatest whizbang self driving blah blah blah, but I put almost 100k miles on a 2011 Leaf and had little issue with it, and my kid is still driving it to this day. It’s all you need if you’re just running around town doing errands. Rent something for long trips.
There is competition here, though. It’s not like it’s a single insurance company monopoly. You can usually get a better deal by shopping around.
It’s kind of funny you mention this. I just sat down and went through every insurance company I could find (over 15 of them) that are still writing policies here in CA because Geico decided to jack my rates over 20% this renewal. Literally every one of them were within $5 every 6 months of the price Geico is charging me for the renewal.
Tell me again how I’m supposed to “get a better deal by shopping around”?

3·9 months agomonthly subscription for “Walmart+” where you can scan and pay for your items as you shop and never even have to go through the registers or kiosks at all.
This isn’t entirely true. You still have to stop by the self checkout and scan a code on the screen there and confirm a few things, but it is way faster.
That hasn’t been a thing for many many years.
Yup, we did 2 x 5200+ mile round trips this year with zero issues. I think the problem is that people don’t like the fact that you actually have to think a tiny bit and plan a tiny bit sometimes instead of just jumping in the car and going until it yells at you to stop and get gas. People in this country, especially the anti-ev crowd, really dislike having to think for themselves.

Well, it’s a good thing that people can like different things than you. Good lord, talk about main character syndrome.
As a tesla owner for several years, I find this hard to believe. 15 minutes at a 250 kw charger doesn’t even get you 50%.
I can go buy a surgery robot but that doesn’t mean I know how to use it. Just because you own a Tesla doesn’t mean you know how to road trip it effectively, or have one that can do what I literally just did. For example, an early Model S or X can only charge at 120KW no matter what charger you plug it into, ergo no, it can’t do this. But any long range or performance model 3 or Y certainly can.
Part of the reason there’s so many stops (which I prefer and so do my wife and daughter, for that matter), is that if you keep the battery’s charge level between 10 and 50% from hop to hop, you end up spending much less time at chargers in general because you’re always charging at peak or very close to it. Sitting at a charger waiting for that last 10% at like 75kw from 70% - 80% is MUCH slower than hopping on down the road and charging at near peak at the next charger.
It works, I know for a fact it works, and I brought the receipts! Here’s a few examples from my trip:
