lol, literally got fwded two tweets by seperate anthropic employees that copypasta-d each other’s “sincere personal message” (both accenting how it’s “not a marketing stunt!”)… how dumb is this gonna get before it finally blows over?

x4 has backlight, the new ones (v5? x4.5?) dropped it again for some reason? i got an original for myself and the backlight one for my wife actually :D

a fair, didn’t read that properly! guess for tablet replacement that does sound nice, but for reading i think i’d still prefer something like the xteink (actually very curious if the size will be an issue but i always hate how heavy the paperwhite feels)

i have no data on it, but i’d honestly doubt you’d get much power savings when watching video?
also high refresh rate displays were stupidly expensive last time i checked. there is, after all, just a single company making them…

why would you run android on eink anyway? refresh rates are garbage for anything but reading and owning a distraction free device is one of the biggest upsides of ereaders, for me anyway
i did root my kindle (got it as a present) and even a terminal is horrid to use… actually just ordered an xteink and really looking forward to an unlocked bootloader from the factory ^^
p.s. also i just got an email that they released a newer version which seems to have a better soc (don’t read comics but if that’s a reason maybe they’re already improving on that) edit: and it’s still half the price, most of which is probably the display itself tbf D:

what would happen is people would figure out it’s bs xD

the “you have reached your quota limit” at the end is just such a cherry on top xD

cos the ui is why people abandoned it… :picard:
the audacity (sorry :D)
TIL
guess i just never botheres to try cos config change & rebuild wasn’t much more of a hassle :shrugs:
just for clarity: you can modify stuff like hosts or cron jobs but it’d get overwritten iirc? you can also make the change in the config and have it persist (reproducibility being the main point, not disallowing you to edit your files)

excellent! i can now remove my eternal TODO to write this myself :D

well if it makes you feel better you just made me man history xD

i just cat grep .bash_history lol
but this does sound more convenient xD
but wait, it gets even more cyberpunk: the security cam footage is on streamable! :o https://streamable.com/2e8p4v

welp, looks like you don’t use python virtualenvs… well i guess jokes on you all your shit is probably broken now (and as a bonus, that’s probably a big part of the donwload size as well) :p

nice… so we need a github marketing campaign to fund the software that makes the world run? nice…
the one thing that most federated platforms have over centralised structures is the possibility to migrate out of your current shitty fiefdom and the fact that the actual code is open source, so a community can make the choices about the possibilities the technology provides (which is mostly usually better than whatever a for profit company is “forced” into), whereas a centralised platform like bluesky can just ruin the codebase and keep it’s users hostage… which after all is one of the key factors to enshitification
edit: i do agree on your other points though, social networks are bound to turn into bubbles and we’ve already seen defederation based on petty squabbles :shrugs:

a bachelor of latte arts? xD

electron has entered the room
errm, no thank you mr mobilek? xD
