I was being sarcastic. EU is anything but democratic.

We must remember that EU is a democracy (not): therefore this is what the majority of EU citizens want.

1·14 days agoThis kind of empty sentences do not make EU a democracy. “The democracy is in the process” – no, the process shows that there’s no democracy. “It’s how a functioning democracy is supposed to work” – no it isn’t. A democracy establishes a referendum for such invasive measures.
We aren’t speaking about empty technical definitions here. Also China is a “republic of the people” then – it’s even in its name.
This kind of empty legalese, this Newspeak, does not help anyone. Call slavery ‘freedom’ and then tell the slaves “you’re free! you see? This is how functioning freedom is supposed to work. It’s in the process”.
🤝 It should be posted in other interested communities on Lemmy (and Mastodon). I imagine it has already; yet this is the first time I heard of it.
Great piece, thank you for sharing!
As events unfolded, the participant who drew attention to the posts was banned first. The author of the offensive material was banned later after their identity was verified.
I’ve also noticed a tendency of censorship in KDE’s forums, for posts that are simply inconvenient, even if written in a civilized way.

I think we need a redefinition of “bug” though. If something hasn’t been noticed for 10+ years, is it really a “bug”? I think the definition should depend on the probability of negative effects, not just on the possibility.
In fact, my impression is that any piece of code can be shown to have some bug, if taken from a particular angle or in particular contexts or scenarios.
(I think there are also connections with mathematical-logical foundations. For example, it is impossible to build an axiomatic system that is enough powerful and does not have undecidable propositions. Whenever you fix the axioms to fix one of the undecidable propositions, another one automatically pops up.)
