Fediverse@lemmy.world•Quadruple moderation is killing lemmy. It’s a Gift to RedditEnglish
7·8 days agoI was starting to wonder because of your lengthy posts and use of emphasis, did you use AI to make this post?
Uploading AI slop and posting genuine content (reposted or “spammy” or not) are two very, very different things.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Quadruple moderation is killing lemmy. It’s a Gift to RedditEnglish
3·8 days agoI’ve had multiple accounts banned over one or two posts that somebody didn’t like. Months of posting, comments, engagement and contributions can effectively disappear from a community because of a couple of moderation decisions.
And the more you contribute, the worse the odds become. If you make hundreds or thousands of posts, eventually you’re going to post something that one moderator somewhere doesn’t like.
You don’t need one moderation team to tolerate you. You need multiple independent moderators and admins, across multiple servers, to remain aligned indefinitely.
This is why free speech (or at least free speech adjacent) instances are important. They don’t ban people nearly as frivolously. Build your communities on instances that are not hosted by bullies.
Although, I will say, your premise is a bit flawed here. Having more moderation isn’t the problem, the problem is the type of moderators that are here on Lemmy. A lot of them are the same hall monitor types that were on Reddit, but even more strict!

Fediverse@lemmy.world•How to make the Fediverse more appealing for following sports??English
23·11 days agoThings have gotten better over time, especially with bridges. There are a few Bluesky users who talk about sports, and there’s also sportsbots.xyz which mirrors sports-related X accounts to the Fediverse. Also, @NBA@lemmy.world is a pretty poppin’ Lemmy community that talks about everything and anything NBA-related.
Honestly, the best thing that all of us can do are post about the sports we’re watching, and use the appropriate hashtags so that it’s easier for sports to trend and for us to find each other.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Does Mastodon bring anything of value to a Lemmy user?English
63·12 days agoI will say that boosts can make posts spread on Mastodon a bit more quickly than I’ve seen Lemmy posts spread on Lemmy. But Lemmy posts aren’t particularly Mastodon-friendly, I do wish they were formatted to be a bit more readable.

Gaming@lemmy.zip•Rockstar finally break silence on "heartbreaking" GTA 6 leak, say it's "unfortunate that the intended game experience may now be impacted by some spoilers"English
26·13 days agoI see. I am not sure how this will help!
I’ve never been very much into GTA, I played GTA 5 a couple of times and was actually underwhelmed. I am saving for my first console and am more excited to get RDR2 and the new Lego Skylines game than GTA 6.
I’m by no means rooting for Trump’s death, but I do think he will die rather suddenly and not when most folks would expect it.
If he’s still around by, say, 2032, I’d be surprised.

25·13 days agoMy rationale was that the leakers were frustrated with GTA 6 taking so long to come out, so delaying the game might make them more frustrated and hurt their cause.
Of course, it is certainly likely that I am wrong and these leakers are just leaking stuff for fun or something.

27·13 days agoOh. My bad, for some reason I thought that the leakers wanted the game to come out. Maybe I was wrong!

311·13 days agoIf they delayed the release by a month every time a leak came out, I wonder if the leakers would change their tune.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Mastodon.world cancels famous German author Kazim's posts - now he left Mastodon completelyEnglish
23·1 month agoInteresting. I use “leftists” as synonymous with “progressive” or, perhaps more accurately, “marxist”. So I would never call a Liberal a Leftist, for example.
Interestingly enough, the Tankies as described by you here remind me more of the Neoconservative center and right, I have never associated such types with the left in my mind at all.

56·1 month agoYep. But I’m not sure what Centrism is, exactly.
In America’s Overton Window, Centrism typically means Classical Liberalism, while eschewing far-left mindsets like Marxism.

54·1 month agoPeople’s first impression tends to color how they view something. Fair or not, the first Mastodon instance you join tends to affect your view of the software, and the Fediverse as a whole.
If people tell you to join a social media website, and you get treated poorly when you join, why would you want to stay on that website’s social network?

Gaming@lemmy.zip•EA expect their $55 billion sale to Saudi Arabia and private equity firms to close next week, with "all regulatory approvals required" in placeEnglish
23·1 month agoIt’s literally up to other people to challenge them. I’ve only followed the EA Sports side of things but their reputation has been slowly tanking over the past 10 to 15 years. There’s a reason that they lost the FIFA license a few years back.
