@Koetsie@mstdn.social Played OT2. Not my favorite game. The stories still felt too disconnected for my taste.
@Koetsie@mstdn.social can he do the evasion tank dance? Or just a high HP, high defense tank?
@Koetsie@mstdn.social Need some money to booster his defense! Estelle keeps having to save him! ha!
@buerviper@physchem.science I know it’s crazy, but the delight players who play Trails in order get when characters show up in later games? I’m getting the same delight seeing them show up in the “prequels”! ha! Like, when Olivier showed up in Sky 1! I’m like, awww snaps! I know that pansexual musician!
@buerviper@physchem.science my Trails journey has been weirdly unique. Calvard then Crossbell then Erebonia (but not CS4 or Reverie yet) and now Liberl. Everything I play is just a prequel to the Calvard arc! ha!
The story is definitely “the beginning before it all started to go down” which is amazing.
@buerviper@physchem.science I’ve found the pace pretty good and comparable to the other games so far. Definitely not a complaint. It’s exactly what I need! Nice and easy, slowly let the story unfold the way only Trails can.
What’s extra fun is that this is acting like a huge prequel to Crossbell and Erebonia!
@riskable@programming.dev It’s been called “the marvel cinematic universe” of video games. 13 games so far that started in 2004 that all take place in the same universe & tell one huge story in the continent of Zemuria over many arcs, each in their own country.
It’s turn-based combat with strategic elements but the games main focus is it’s storytelling.
@zero_spelled_with_an_ecks@programming.dev Always! If game has pet, I pets the pet.
@matt@isfeeling.social haha! I’m the opposite. After the past 500 hours playing Trails games, an 80+/- game will be a nice palette cleanser before heading back to Zemuria.
@buerviper@physchem.science Oh man, when they allude to it in some scenes…. And then in CS3!
@buerviper I did Zero, Azure, CS 1, 2, & 3 and I do not want to burn out! Actually thinking Sky trilogy before CS4! But definitely need a break.
@buerviper@physchem.science Haha!
@SleepyPie@lemmy.world I’m sorry about the regret. I know that feeling. Fortunately, as a Trails fan, what you described actually appeals to me. I like structure and when games are a bit more linear. But that’s my own preference. I understand if yours is different! BUT!!! thanks for the advice to levelset myself!
@bazkie@beige.party It’s hard to describe. You got a dozen games over the past 20+ years all taking place in the same world and time telling a huge larger story. The game play loop is cozy, lots of dialogue, with fun & interesting strategic turnbased combat. It’s just such a rich world, you connect with everyone. And spend so much time with them. It’s… incredible!
@ajsadauskas @maegul @fediverse I’ll be honest. I’m ambivalent about Bluesky. If Mastodon et al can talk to them, fine. If not, fine. I’m happy & content with the wonderful people here and if federation gives us access to a few more, that’s fine too.
@Koetsie@mstdn.social Honestly, both OT and EC having random encounters is such a turn off for me. I’m really enjoying my trails journey and I’ve got Metaphor in my backlog. After OT2, I don’t see myself playing EC. Honestly, I’ve struggled to enjoy most Square games, in general. Preferring Falcom, Atlus, and the indies.
