  • Ok, so it’s actually good that you are noticing that part of yourself that is afraid of abandonment. That is very common with people that have a bit of a tough background. It is also possible that she had some fear of abandonment when she was a child, so she may be doing a kind of trauma-reenactment. To an extent, I understand where you’re coming from and how you feel. Sometimes when people say “Oh, I totally understand!” doesn’t really help. It sounds like you might have had a bit of a rough childhood, due to social standards, such as hiding mental disabilities. I ask you to not turn to drugs, alcohol, or sex when you’re struggling. It might feel hard. It might feel impossible. But if you ignore it, then you can’t help yourself help yourself. Hurt people hurt people, because they were hurt by hurt people. And the cycle continues. This isn’t just directed to you, but anybody that needs help and doesn’t know how to ask for it in person. A river can only flow after the storm.

  • And there is evolution to take note of too. The chickens that were alive back then could look very different to the chickens we have today. We say the word “chicken”, and we think of the chickens that you see at farms, or sometimes in the wild, with no thought at all to the details. True, one could argue that chickens have not undergone any evolution, and were as they are today, but there are several flaws in that reasoning. First, every animal has been a certain way, but, as time passes and their environment changes, they must change as well. Here’s an example of natural selection, for those who are not as well versed in the matter of evolution.

Say there are white squirrels. They have lived there for hundreds of years, and therefore adapted to accommodate the forest. One day, a paper mill is built next to the forest where they reside, and spews pollution out. Over time, the trees of the forest, once elm white, are not soot black. The white squirrels are then hunted because they can no longer blend in with their environment. Soon, black squirrels are born. They can now blend in with the trees, and are killed less often. The white squirrels are hunted until there is no more left.

  • Hey. I’m here for you, and I understand. Depression is scary and hard and confusing, and very hard to explain to somebody who “feels depressed sometimes”. Getting fresh air is really good at clearing your mind and helping you reset. Showering and drinking a glass of ice water also helps me. Try to find safe things to feel or put your hands in, because the sensory and touch are very important, and they help you ground yourself. If you don’t have any ideas, here’s some exercises you could do when you start feeling dysregulated or find yourself dissociating.

    • -Fill a medium bowl of rice and put your hands in. Notice how it feels, what the temperature of the rice is (You can heat it up for 15-20 seconds if you’d like) and what emotions you are feeling at the moment. I highly recommend that you record your feelings and thoughts in a journal, along with the day, time, weather, and what activity you were doing.

    • -Draw or write what you are feeling, what you hate, your trauma (if any), or a person you dislike. Find a safe place outside and clear it of leaves and twigs. Get a bowl or large cup of water beside you, just in case something goes wrong. Crumple the paper into a ball, and place it on the ground. Light it. From the safe distance, sit on the ground and close your eyes. Just listen to the sounds around you. Once you are done with this activity, pour water on the paper and cover it with a bowl, so no extra oxygen can get to the fire and potentially light it. (Op. Write in your journal during/after you’re done.)

    • -Paint or draw to music.

    • -Find 5 things you see, 4 things you hear, 3 things you feel, 2 things you smell, and 1 thing you taste.

    • -Bury your bare feet in fresh soil and pretend you are a tree. Imagine the things that happened to you (or your trauma) as storm clouds. Remember the time when the bad thing happened, and imagine that as a big storm. Imagine yourself now, as a tree, and raise your arms up like you are growing.

    Questions

-Do you find yourself not wanting to do something you used to enjoy? -Do you feel like you want to do something but don’t know what to do? -Do you feel like you want to sleep all day, or feel more tired than normal? -Do you feel like you are somebody else and that what is happening to you isn’t real? -Do you feel numb and achy? -Do you find that things annoy you when it feels like they shouldn’t? -Do you find that you don’t feel as sexually active, or the opposite?

You got this. I believe in you!

  • The “rules” should be more like guidelines to suggest to posters what type of content the intent of the community is, not what type of content is permissible.

I totally agree. Rules number 1, 4, and 5 are the most important, in my opinion. I’m not saying that there shouldn’t be rules in the communities; there definitely should be rules. Guidelines for what to post instead of what not to post will probably be more beneficial.

  • Are we planning to assassinate somebody? With a car battery? And if you want the car to veer off course, then it’s the brake pedal you’ll want removed. But in newer cars there’s a function that if you take your foot off the gas pedal it’ll just slow down like you’re braking. And there’s this one car that if somebody is having a stroke while they’re driving it’ll go autopilot mode and pull to the curb and call for emergency assistance. I saw it at this automobile convention that I went to last year. The North American International Auto Show in Detroit, up by Huntington Place, I think. It was amazing. Never really been into cars, but I went anyway.
