The vast majority of Apple users stick with the default browser and the vast majority of Windows users change the default browser. That’s why Chrome is the number one browser by active users.

I’m not in favor of Windows exclusive applications but if you only have the resources to focus on one platform, use the one with most users.

As for the Linux version: Looked like yet another Gnome Web knockoff. A WebKit browser whose GUI actually works well on Plasma and other non-Gnome desktops would be welcome but another one of those isn’t a benefit IMO

I think you’re right. Initial SteamOS 3.0 release as shipped on the first wave of Steam Decks was broken trash by today’s standards. Even the first 3.0.xx updates made a world difference.

I’m not the developer but my guess is that they want to distinguish this from Armada which is something like Bazzite but using Arch Linux where everything is recompiled.

They take the binary SteamOS image and add a different kernel and some other auxiliary stuff to port Valve’s image to new devices.

That’s broadly similar to what Linux Mint does to Ubuntu or Bazzite does to Fedora. Sometimes this is referred as a remix instead of a fork.
