The challenge does not harm Trump’s bond but makes it so that the insurance company will need to show proof that they can pay it. Trump’s lawyers responded last week. Now she is preparing to argue before a judge that their response is inadequate. The hearing will be on Monday.

At this point Letitia James is arguing that the bond is no good, but a judge hasn’t yet ruled on whether she is right. If and when that happens, there will be less room to stall.
