@toaster are you fucking kidding me?! You think a corrupt, bureaucratic governing body would actually spend the money efficiently, responsibly, or even direct the biggest percentage of it to the right people? Are you insane? How many local construction projects end up as money laundering schemes for politicians?! Biden’s inaccurate “infrastructure” bill alone maybe actually spent $25 billion on infrastructure, if that. Statists are literally the biggest fucking morons.

Plenty of us use Windows without ever having bought it. I can honestly say that I’ve used almost every distribution of Windows since 3.0 and 3.11, but I’ve never given Microsoft so much as a penny.

sure. but when will you leave? like what does it take? steamos is faster for your games, linux kinda works awesome for desktop. and m$ had soooo so many fuckups over the decades…nothing seems to have made you switch to another os. so what would it take? does bill need to shoot someone in the face right on timesquare?

because even if you dont pay for the OS (isnt it free these days anyways?), you harm the internet, progress in general, you share way too much data and so on. so even if you dont give bill money directly, as a windows user you are part of a bigger problem.

When I feel comfortable enough with Mint or some other distro to be able to. I have a very nice gaming tower that I’m playing with, but have run into issues getting MechWarrior Online to function on that system. Once I’m certain that I can do everything I want to do with Linux, including printing, I will stop using Windows 7 and Windows 10. For now those OSs do everything I want, and I stripped out all the objectionable data harvesting that I could.

I agree that windows has outlived it’s use, however I have been a windows power user and MCSE certified for decades. Switching OSs isn’t an overnight thing.

and can you see the problem in your argument? you say switching isnt an overnight thing, but then again you say you will switch once everything works 100%…which would be an overnight thing, rite?

and to top it off you say this using windows 7&10…like when did everything work 100% on those?

steamdeck/steamOS works for playing games. give mint a ride. there is no reason to procrastinate fiddling with windows anymore.

@toaster most of the problems that exist is because the government robs us off so much of our money. Both through purposely causing inflation and taxing us. Then turning around, paying people to make poor choices (welfare), indoctrinating us into believing we need government assistance to survive. Government is a big fucking scam.

@toaster and of that 33 trillion in debt we are, most of it went to the military industrial complex. Which has never been audited. You think they’re spending your money wisely dropping bombs on brown people in the desert? Or maybe pissing our money away in forever foreign wars is exactly how you WANT your tax dollars spent. Jesus Christ.

FFS, 7 month old account with 0 comments or posts as it shows to me and a meme about how the parasite class need to be taxed/removed sends you off in a tizzy. You have to build some history before jumping in whole hog to be a believable troll you know?

How soon before people start getting offers to buy their lemmy accounts?

Once I hit 100k karma on reddit, I started getting clearly automated messages from brand new accounts offering to purchase my account for anywhere from a $25 roblox gift card to several hundred dollars.

And while I sure could have used that money, I used my old username on almost everything and wasn’t about to turn my username into a shill for a company.

Idk what the going rate is nowadays but 100k karma, started around my account being 6ish years old, filled with thousands of comments and dozens of posts stretching back to 2010/2011. That is how you properly troll.

But hey, if they want to make it easy to spot…

Most of those “causes” are donated to through organizations founded by the billionaires and used as tax havens to shuffle money around while taking advantage of tax loopholes.

Jesse Ventura has said his share of bonkers stuff, but his recent comments that making any more than $12 million a year is ridiculous is pretty much the most reasonable thing anyone in national politics has said regarding the wealthy.
