What does the flower represent? C’mon vexillologists!
As to legalities, was the flower added to make the flag different enough to be a “new” and official flag?
Super neat, both in a moral and flag history sense.
Since I saw this comment and couldn’t get out of the rabbit hole’s event horizon:
The Sego Lily stands for resilience and is a native flower in the area. The blue stripe stands for the sky and the Great Salt Lake while the white stripe stands for snow and salt. The flag itself was made in 2020 by combining the two finalist designs of the Sego Lily Flag and the Beehive Flag, it would be made the official flag on 2020-10-06 (YYYYMMDD).
That is cool, however, they probably could have done a better job than just sticking their flower on top and calling it a day 😅
I was going to agree with you until I realized they were trying to not mar the original flag as much as possible.
The placement feels random. Centered vertically close to the fly edge would have looked way better, and marred the flag exactly as little.
wow, go SLC! i fell down a huge utah-related rabbit hole lately and didn’t stop to pull my head out to have a look around. wicked hockey team reveal, too, btw. nailed it with the mammoth.
I am very quick to make comments about what I see to be useless pieces of cloth, but then I saw this community that this was posted in, and no joke, enjoy your flags Vexillologists. I love it when people geek out about things.
