As the Trump administration does extrajudicial killing off the coast of Venezuela and considers using more overt military force against the Venezuelan people and Juan Guaido’s [sic] government, our friends at ProPublica have done some deep digging into the attacks on Venezuelan immigrants in an apartment building in Chicago mere weeks ago.
As we covered a few weeks ago in this newsletter, on Sept. 30th in the middle of the night, DHS agents descended via helicopters on a south side Chicago apartment building and proceeded to invade, drag out, detain, and question everyone inside the building. DHS arrested 21 Venezuelans they claimed to be members of the gang Tren de Aragua.
So far ProPublica has found that the Venezuelans arrested on that night have not been charged with any major crimes. Some of the few criminal records they have found have included traffic violations and shoplifting. Many have chosen to self-deport instead of languishing in detention.

Disappointing. I thought from the headline this would be a happy story about collaborators inside Venezuela getting rounded up for chatting with the CIA.
Instead its more gloom.
