  • I dont think capitalists are all failsons so much as that they are all experts in their own sphere exclusively. (In the case of trump and musk their field of expertise is bullshitting and they are complete failsons at everything else.) Capitalists conflicts with each other don’t stop in the face of existential threats to their class even if they move out of their primary focus. Their competitive nature leads them to lie and withhold from each other meaning as an aggregate they are incompetent.
It would make sense that a deeper plan is to cause a crisis in agriculture so that Cargill, Monsanto, and friends can finish their elimination of the petti-bourgeois farmers. How the plan to cut spending, the plan to concentrate the means of agricultural production, and the plan to abandon soft power will all come together is anyone’s guess. There isn’t any historical precedent so its all just speculation but what we have seen of the american consultancy class as of late is gross incompetence. I’m betting on that trend continuing.

I don’t think america is in a position to starve the world by withholding aid. There was never enough funding to do what needed to be done so less funding is still not going to be enough. The UN doing its own cost saving and bloat cutting might not be so bad especialy if their main focus is cutting america out of the systems.

The imperialists learned the wrong lesson (as they often do) about soft power projection. What they learned was “soft power doesn’t work” “Why spend money handing out little Carrots when the Stick is all we use and the stick keeps having to get bigger?” The real lesson is that america doesn’t use soft power correctly. The “carrot and stick” only works if the balance is equal and they only works if you don’t get the stick when you comply. (Sadddam did everything the us told him and they kept giving him the stick till they gave him the rope.)

If China and Russia are smart they will pick up some of the funding shortfalls as bargain price soft power gains.

  • I have my issues with albo but this is a good move for him and the political establishment. Tit for ta tariffs aren’t going to make things better. American tariffs are going to hurt the mill owners and shareholders either way. Reciprocating is just going to raise prices for consumers of imported goods. Saying “we don’t like it but we won’t hit back” could be just what trump wants to hear. Signaling to Trump that the Australian government knows its place as a subservient vassal is pathetic but its also true. No point blustering and chest thumping. Best case, maybe Trump will let Australia off the hook as a reward for knowing their place.

  • I think that mess was intentional plan by trump. trump said something to the effect of “its good we did this in front of the cameras because the American people need to see what I have to deal with”

I don’t think it was about humiliation so much as trying to undo years of propaganda. Showing people that zelenski isn’t the kind of heroic brave man the media made him out to be.

Zelenski came out of that looking weak, belligerent, and ungrateful. But Trump just came out of that looking like trump.
