    Is that USD per US gallon? If so, that’s 69p/litre, which is a little over half the current UK fuel prices.

      That’s exactly what that is, although it can be much higher. It’s $5 or $6 per gallon in some places.

      It is petty whining for some Americans, but keep in mind that the public transportation system is absolute garbage in most American cities, if they have one at all. There are a large number of people for whom the decision isn’t whether or not to switch to public transit when prices go up, but rather which of their other costs will be displaced. Not driving means not working, means homelessness and perhaps even prison.

        You’d think that would be a wakeup call to vote for more independence from cars and diversity in transportation options, but instead they collectively vote to jam themselves deeper into the finger trap instead of trying to fox the problem.
