    I never understood why they called it Classic

    It’s not what TF2 used to be; it’s an entirely new direction. So weird.

      It was perpetuating a legacy from Team Fortress Classic, or TFC. Prior to that, Team Fortress went through a few iterations, including on the Quake engine and/or as mods, and later was rebranded when it was moved onto the Half-Life 1 engine.
