I’ve found that when I do this, very similar to gun people, knife people get absurdly defensive. Like you are here. “How dare you suggest my weapon not be on me at all times! It has a legitimate purpose, you see”. No one is saying that’s not true, it’s the same thing as the gun arguments, these are just deflections from the point of “do you need to carry a weapon 24/7”.

I’m sure when you are visiting a newborn child a sudden attacker or possibly a random clamshell case could get you out of nowhere, and it would clearly be the worst thing in the world to not be able to deal with that in every single context that ever exists

Most knives aren’t weapons, and you need them when you need them. There’s not always predictability on when that’s going to be.

I’ll never be in a maternity ward. Children are gross. Creating more of them is a terrible idea.
