I have a relative staying over right now and he has to have an opinion on… everything. Examples:
“That’s a nice watch… How much did you pay for it? That much? That’s too much money”.
“That meal looks good… You should add some cheese to it”
“What size is your bottle? Don’t you think it’s a bit large? it would be better if it was smaller”
“That would be better if they didn’t add sugar to it. They put too much sugar in it.” Me: “There’s no added sugar”. “That would be better if they didn’t add sugar to it.”
LIKE BRO???
I did have those, i have cut them out of my life.
Typically the over opinionated bullshit morphs into jabs, insults and outright to hostility…… I just got sick of dealing with it and cut them out of my life.
same and extremely valid
Not a relative but a friend. He has an opinion on everything and also usually has the only correct answer for every question too.
Boy wish o could be like him… Never a doubt
Even better, a mom, and one I have to be around more than I’d like now that she’s elderly.

Kick them out. You deserve peace in your own home. People like that are always going to have something to say about what you do
So annoying, right? Like, just SO annoying!
…
Ok, fine, whatever, yeah, that’s me. Sorry. But you really SHOULD add cheese to it.
It’s performative insecurity. And it’s not an opinion, it’s bullying. That’s the point, to steamroll other people and their opinions to make people capitulate to their “way of doing things.” To make them feel good about themselves. Which is cheap and fleeting.
No
i did and they were horrible people so i stopped talking to them and disappeared entirely
this is manipulative and controlling af if not outright abusive behavior
Your asking. People hanging on the internet. An internet forum no less. If its bad that people have an opinion on everything. You get me?
Maybe it’s just my experience, I’ve noticed this to be a near universal Boomer trait. It’s as if they are incapable of keeping an opinion to themselves and worse yet, act upon this impulse with the expectation that whomever they’re speaking to will be grateful for it and if not it is somehow a personal insult.
As a boomer myself, I think you’re wrong
all of the older members of my ex-family were like this, so that tracks
The not listening thing in the last example is more irksome than them having an opinion.
