    As I pointed out to another person, coffee was a worldwide commodity by the 18th century, and a flourishing coffee culture. Coffee shops most certainly did exist!

        Highly-incorrectly, though. Actual historians cite the cheap coffee as bringing the rich and poor together in coffeehouses daily, and helping drive social reforms of the era.
