Republicans have proved, time and time again, that you can salvage a shit election year by blasting “AAAAAH! TRANSGENDER ATHLETES!” 24/7 for three months straight. And if your opponents decide to run a bunch of geriatric cancer-ridden chucklefucks against you, there’s a better than average chance you’ll win.
That’s before entrenched partisans in the municipal/state bureaucracies straight up do election fraud to tip the scales. One favorite down in the Lone Star State is to send over voting machines that don’t work to big liberal polling venues. I don’t think I’ve seen an election in which the HBU voting venue didn’t have a line 4+ hours long, because they only had two machines running for tens of thousands of (predominantly black) people. Maybe we even get a few arrests, like Ken Paxton did to Hervis Rogers, the last man to cast a ballot on the longest election night in Texas history.

This year (2024), changes in state election laws mean that many Americans are facing different voting requirements than they did in 2020. Since the last presidential election, at least 29 states have enacted dozens of laws that, among other things, make voter ID rules stricter, reduce opportunities to vote by mail, and make ballot collection and voter assistance more difficult.
Are we keeping notes? All this fuss? Any R victory at the polls will mean, what? Any R loss at the polls we will never hear the end of it, it could also spark some kind of maga revolution that’ll make J6 look like the practice run it was. The pedophile will no doubt rally the stupid troopers to disrupt congress etc.
They might try. But the MAGA crowd didn’t launch the two or three largest protests in US history last year. Their opposition did.
And most people were caught completely off guard by Jan 6th. We know they’re going to attempt it against Congress in 2027 (assuming the election isn’t stolen). They’re going to be met by a fuck load of opposition.
I wonder if we could all sign up to “help” and make phone calls and hand out stickers. And by help I mean be super lazy and not help but report that we are or fabricate it, while laying on couch and try to order doughnuts Vance-style.
