Pacifism is lovely and all, but it’s not all “dubious foreign instigators”.

I think most Europeans are just bemused at this point. The country that has been for decades defending its very specific constitutional amendment, about everyone having easy access to guns in order to fight tyranny, would then so easily capitulate to tyranny.

Boy, do you not understand the nuances. Europe has their own problems right now and should watch out for the same thing happening there. The ones screaming about 1st Amendment and 2A are the fascists and currently the ones ruining our country. They say and do what they want, ya know, cause they’re fascists. Also, they cheat and even bragged about cheating.

The part I’m particularly enjoying is trying to figure out if you’re just a troll, completely mentally unwell or most likely projecting because in reality you’re a big Trump person and love pedophiles. So posting this way serves to erode legitimacy of actual criticisms. A user like you can be pointed at as “look see how crazy the oposition is”.

Sure but the “non fascists” don’t have the guts to actually do anything when they are in power. Cause there are no non fascists in the oligarch. Both parties are bought and sold by corporations.

The biggest lie everyone is telling themselves right now is that once Trump is out we well get back to “normal” and that is not going to happen.

Hello, I’m one of these people.

It’s not that dubious. Either Americans find the bravery, strength, courage and determination we all once tought was basic yank DNA inherent in their grandfathers and great grandfathers, and overthrow the corpo billionaire mob in the White House, House & Senate and Supreme Court, or - and this is where it gets selfish

Wait another few years to be liberated by a bunch of weird talking, second guessing wusses from shithole countries to come and do the liberation for you.

That’s the only loop I’m seeing, so you’re welcome for the encouragement.

The time to go to Ed Sheeran concerts, watch the superbowl and make a black friday shopping list is over, you’re under siege and you’re not acting like it. (Tbf, that last part goes for Europe too)

E: Sorry pele, I didn’t see you were the OP, but we established this disagreement before

I’m sorry you’re feeling so down about it.

I did say in a couple of years. And you underestimate the impossible capacity of joint human willpower when we are put with our backs against the wall.

Many in Europe in the early 40’s would have echoed your sentiment if not said it word for word. It was because of contrarian optimists the dam eventually broke, not to mention the natural cycle of totalitarianism, when the total lunatic in charge eventually overcommits their armed forces.

Do not confuse the lack of allegiance to your Orange Pedophile with a lack of care about your people. You may be right that the time for a revolution is past you, but you’re not right to give up. When the time comes, many new alliances will form and come to your aid as you once did for us.

It would only give the powers in charge to excuse they need to crack down hard and openly seize more power.

They’re doing it whether you fight back or not.

ICE fucked off out of Minnesota after they got enough pushback to be uncomfortable for them. And, yes, there were horrible sacrifices made, but in the end, the ICEholes left.

    The real doom loop:

    1. “Hey maybe we should try voting and boycotting companies?”
    2. “That will never work only violence works!”
    3. Some mentally unwell person shoots some people
    4. More fascist stuff is done as a response
    5. Go back to step 1

The revolutionary LARPers are in a symbiotic relationship with the fascists they clam to oppose.

Let’s be real though, the military right now would have no problem mowing down anyone giving a hint of pushback. They already have, look at Alex Pretti and Renee Good. It’s part of their “liberal tears” shtick.

Minnesota is the perfect example on how to do it. They did a fantastic job. They still lost too many.

One of the fundamental falsehoods that is being pushed, and not just by foreign propaganda, is that revolution can only be violent. If we were able to organize crippling work shutdowns we would start to see results. The oligarchs still require a great deal of human labor to get what they want. The public could, theoretically, withdraw that and use it as leverage to move things back toward wealth equity. The problem is that it requires a greater consensus that we have been able to achieve, at least so far.

It isn’t surprising when a government makes the methods for opposing it illegal. That increases the risk involved, but it does not change the reasons for doing it or the effectiveness of those tactics. It isn’t a matter of, “well, we might as well kill people, if both are illegal”. There are a lot of reasons for preferring non-violent protest, beyond legality. It comes down to figuring out what is most likely to cause the change we want to see.

Could do sustained protests, could do a general strike, hell Americans consume so much even a “buying” freeze would probably get their attention cause it hurts theirs stock price. The problem is people are also selfish so organizing anything is next to impossible.

I upvoted for the hopeful sentiments, but I don’t think strikes alone can defeat conservatism. I really do think violence is required, unfortunately. We are in this situation because we didn’t finish the violent ending of the civil war. We let conservatives live and now we have concentration camps.

I sometimes think that violence is seen as the easier answer. It is short term thinking, a big risk for an immediate possible reward versus a brutally long marathon of effort needed to enact real change non-violently. Statistically the long slog is the correct choice though.

You cannot keep fighting if you are dead from a violent act, but if you get up and apply pressure everyday it will add up. Be a warrior of great and enduring patience. Get up when you fail and try again. Learn and live a long time. And other words of motivation that are written on white ladies kitchen walls.
