I live in Manitoba. I could not hit the up vote fast enough.
Guys have you seen our fields? We got fields.
Yeah living here is dull as fuck, but here’s a great story, I was driving on the highway 30 years ago and I saw a man stopped and staring out into a field. I had assumed he had car troubles and was staring out into the field in exhaustion, and I was stopping to be compassionate. He explained that he was visiting from China on a conference, and he had opportunity to rent a car. He was just staring into the canola fields, because he had never seen anything like that in his life - his reality was living in a highly congested city where a postage stamp of sky was visible for 18 seconds a day behind the smog & skyscrapers.
I did my M.Sc there, and lived there for 3 years, so i am allowed to shit on the province too lol.
It’s pretty in its own right, and the small towns can have their own charm, but it’s not for everyone.
Well, what are you waiting for? Get out there with a piece of chalk and list some attractions.
That’s enough Attraction Already!
“My friend’s wife left him in Manitoba, 5 days later he could still see her walking away.”
Usually the jokes are about Saskatchewan, but Manitoba is substantially flatter. Much of Manitoba was the lakebed of glacial lake Agassiz - the largest lake to have existed in north america, and about 50 times the size of Missoula. When the ice dams broke, Lake Agassiz dumped so much fresh water into the North Atlantic that it disrupted global ocean currents, triggering a period of rapid global cooling known as the Younger Dryas.
Fun fact, if look up Niverville MB on the map (just outside of Winnipeg) you can see iceberg scours still present on the landscape - this is where icebergs scraped the bottom of the lake.
"I’ve heard every joke
I’ve heard every word you say"
My dog ran away, it took three days.
It’s got the world largest know congregation of snakes in the spring.
Go on…?
We have this famous area called Garson, where the Garson garter snake balls roll around in their mating routines. Garter snakes are very thin, like than a pinky finger and harmless
Look up Narcisse Snake Dens. I’m not from Manitoba but I went there once, it was awesome, judt thousands of thousands of snakes all in big piles mating or trying to get some action.
Snorgy
That’s it, back to Winnipeg!
please and thank you! just in time to see the wild vs jets on tuesday next week. haven’t been up there since the first incarnation of the moose moved up there from the cities.
I had a shirt that said this
We have many bumpers that stickers that say “Winnipeg - we were born here, what’s your excuse?”
At least there are trees. Wait to you hit Saskatchewan and you don’t even have that.
You have the BC border to look forward to when you are leaving Manitoba and entering Saskatchewan
Driving through Ontario (Ottawa to Kenora) is more soul sucking than MB to B.C.
Ontario never ends, then you blink and you’re in Alberta.
I’ve done the drive many times, I know. Trees, trees, and more trees, and some of the hotels in that end of Ontario are sketch AF.
Agreed. I’ve learned that you never stop in Kenora. Thunder bay or Winnipeg you’re good.
An absolute nightmare, of exhausting, monotonous, merciless driving. It’s just an endless cascade of up and down s-curves, blind turns, narrowed roads, washed out bridges. All you see are 50 trillion jackpines flying by. And rocks, so many lichen covered rocks, all identical but for the random vulgar graffiti.
I always forget manitoba exists it’s bc, alberta, saskatchewan then ontario, quebec and newfoundland/labrador
Manitoba is the most vague provence
PEI: am I a joke to you?
I thought I made my point but I can go through the rest provinces and territories
Oh hey! It’s the ACE flag
Or the netherlands, depending on what angle you view it from
Topeka, Kansas
The Midwest
