As may be obvious from the frequency of my posts here lately, I’ve been going through the flashlight accumulation startup phase. I’m ready to let some of my early missteps go.

I like the peer-to-peer, no platform fee of something like reddit’s r/flashlight monthly pinned BTS thread. Would there be appetite for something like that here, or does that just make moderation tedious?

Is there already a trade-friendly fedi solution that could support something as specialized as (ahem) enthusiast flashlights? TY in advance.

    Just post here, this sub is quiet enough that a BST post now and then is probably fine imho. Just don’t make dozens of separate posts. Put up a bunch of lights in one post.

      Guess I was mostly wondering about how trust and accountability would work here. I guess keeping a bunch of lights in one post would allow sellers and buyers to report on the transaction outcomes and have some sort of public record.

        I’ve only given away lights here, not bought/sold/traded.

        I think the volume of trading likely to happen here in the short term is too small to make a useful transaction record. You can guess from an account’s history whether it seems to belong to a person who would care about harming their reputation by dishonesty in a transaction.

        As an example, I would buy from you, if I was buying (I’m probably not buying).
