A couple of years ago I grew some habanero peppers in my garden. One of the plants had been mislabeled, however, and turned out to be carolina reapers. Eating them didn’t feel like normal hot peppers – it felt like I had been punched hard in the lips.

If it’s a century egg yeah, except sliced through salad, first time I had one like a boiled egg and it was very overpowering in flavour.

      I liken it to Anchovies

$1 Million dollars is a lot of money and with these options you’re risks are: overdoing a pleasant snack (onion), discovering a new delicacy (century egg), an unpleasant flavor and texture (grub), or like twenty cumulative minutes of fiery pain (carolina reaper).

For $100, none of these are worth it unless we’re allowed to prepare them in some sort of dish. For $1000, I’ll eat a raw onion. For $10,000, anything but the grub, even all three.

For $1 Million? I’ll eat all four of these, raw (possibly wriggling), and ask for seconds, if required. I’d be a fool to do otherwise.

When it comes to really hot peppers, its more than the pain going in. They strike again on the other end. I didn’t think about that the first time I ate a ghost pepper and then spent the next day roaming around Washington DC.

For me it’s the heartburn and the hiccups. My mouth and anus can take the hottest peppers in the world, the rest of me really can’t.

Oof. I can’t imagine that kind of heartburn. I’ve only had normal hb once from too many chicken wings but I do remember feeling like my stomach was empty all day even after eating food. It made me feel a bit weak for several hours.

False. Any dollar amount over like $20 and the onion is a good choice unless you must eat the skin. I’m which case IDK a hundo is probably sufficient.

I believe it is a “century egg” and despite the shocking appearance I have heard they are quite tasty. Basically eggs that are preserved with an alkaline substance.

The onion, obviously. I eat raw onion sometimes just because I want to. Eating a whole one wouln’t be awful.

Do people really dislike onions that much? Like, I throw diced onions on a ton of different things and usually have to pay for it. I feel like eating a whole onion would just be something I’d do if I was drunk enough and didn’t have anything else in the house.

Protein tip, diced/sliced onion with a little sugar diluted in vinegar is a great refreshing side dish.

I’m not an onion lover, but I’ve somehow recently realized that maybe its because yellow onion sucks? White onion (in chili, salsa, etc) I don’t mind, and might even miss if it were left out. Red onion, it kinda depends, I often don’t want as much as they put on a burger, but I’ll leave some small amount on.

But, all the recipes that call for yellow onion seem to be things I don’t like. I haven’t just tried one alone, to test, but can onion lovers chime in on whether yellow onion is distinctly different enough to be the kind I’ve hated much of my life?

I eat the kind pictured in the OP image almost exclusively, because they’re the cheapest where I live. They aren’t that different from red onions to warrant the hate. Idk about white ones, they aren’t popular here at all.

Put yellow onions on sandwiches, it’ll be fine. Great for frying too. I personally don’t like boiled onions, but it’s used in soups around here quite a bit.

Red or white, I love raw onion. The looks of revulsion I get make it that much better, but I do really enjoy them. They were my #1 grazing food, next to cheese when I worked at a pizza shop long long ago.

i’ve managed to avoid that symptom. it legitimately terrifies me. when i was at my lowest, flavor (not food. sometimes just aroma) was all i had left to enjoy.

Also … it doesn’t say anything about how you eat those. No prohibition against cooking it or adding additional ingredients. No time limit.

Chop that onion up, cook it, and use it in a meal or two, and it’ll be totally fine – delicious even. And I don’t even really like onions.

Shockingly just putting a whole onion in the oven and baking it with no prep, spices or anything is delicious too. It starts to caramelize and it becomes a sweet treat.

    Easy.

    No time limit?

Doesn’t say I can’t cook it or pair it with other things?

I’ll have an onion with some chicken and peppers in a nice stir fry over the next couple days.

I expect my check to arrive soon.

If I add the reaper into the stir fry do I get 2 million?
